The city council has persevered through another year of challenges as a result of state aid reductions. Historically the city has maintained a strong financial position, which has allowed the city council to continue providing the essential services to the residents of Howard Lake, and has placed the city in a strong financial position as we continue to move forward through these uncertain times.

The local economy has been a focus for the city council this past year as we see small town business continue to struggle. Howard Lake’s local economy has shown recent signs of improvement due to the opening of Howard Lake Foods in September of 2010. Located in our downtown, the full-service grocery store will provide a significant anchor to our local economy, and provide a much-needed service to the residents and businesses of Howard Lake.

For many years Howard Lake has shown great pride in amateur baseball through the Howard Lake Orphans, who had another very enjoyable season.

We look forward to being one of the host communities for the 2013 State Amateur Baseball Tournament.

The council is dedicated to the residents and businesses of Howard Lake, and we will strive to continue providing opportunities to allow Howard Lake to grow responsibly.
